Název díla je odkazem na cheat ve hře GTA, který umožňuje hráči měnit vizáž svého avatara. Hledáme ideál v přednastavených možnostech generovaných samotnými tvůrci hry. I v reálném životě napodobujeme generované trendy, slepě následujeme své vzory, které jsme si sami ani nevybrali, pouze se necháváme ovlivňovat vnějším prostředím, které do sebe promítáme.

Život je hra, kterou hrajeme, aniž bychom si uvědomovali, že jsme její součástí. Je vůbec představa o individuální existenci jedince reálná? Nejsme my sami pouhými avatary, které pohání příkazy kapitalistického světa?

Adrian Altman je student AVU v Praze, Ateliéru malířství III Michaela Rittsteina. V současnosti pobývá na stáži na FaVU VUT, v Ateliéru malířství II Luďka Rathouského. Navzdory studiu malby jsou Altmanovy výstupy zpravidla intermediální, určované konkrétním projektem, nikoli médiem.

The title of the work is a reference to the cheat in the GTA game which allows the player to change the look of their avatar. We look for the ideal in the pre-set possibilities generated by the game makers themselves. Even in real life, we imitate generated trends, blindly following our models that we haven’t even chosen, and allow the external environment to influence us, projecting it in ourselves. “I wish all people saw the world not like others made it whirl. […] the game’s not over yet for me.” – Indigo, Fairy tale (2017) Life is a game we play without realizing that we are part of it. Is the idea of the individual’s existence realistic? What if we are mere avatars driven on by the capitalist world’s orders?

Adrian Altman is a student of Michael Rittstein’s Painting Studio III at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. He is currently on a study stay at Luděk Rathouský’s Painting Studio, Faculty of Fine Arts, Brno University of Technology. Despite his painting studies, Altman’s work is not determined by the media, but by a concrete project, so most of his output displays an intermedia nature.
