Vytváření různých podmínek v každodenním prostředí připomíná teorie francouzských situacionistů z padesátých let, jejichž ústřední myšlenkou byla „konstrukce situací“ – konkrétního budování chvilkových životních okolností a cílem pak rozšiřování neprůměrných částí života, zlepšování kvality okamžiku.

Shluku vyboulenin na chodníku si na první pohled mnoho kolemjdoucích ani nepovšimne. Nenápadná intervence Matěje Lišky, takřka splývající s povrchem cesty, se téměř neliší od běžných nerovností městských komunikací. Jejím cílem je však diváka vytrhnout z automatismu chůze, upomenout jej na jeho existenci v dané chvíli. Tady a teď.

Matěj Liška je student ateliéru Socha 2 na Akademii výtvarných umění v Praze, pod vedením Jimeny Mendozy a Tomáše Hlaviny. V roce 2020 absolvoval stáž v ateliéru Malba 1 a v ateliéru Hostujícího umělce pod vedením Pavla Büchlera. Východiskem autorovy práce je sochařství v rozšířeném poli, věnuje se však i kresbě, instalaci nebo třeba performance. Inspiraci čerpá z konkrétního prostředí a situací, do nichž vstupuje a jemně je mění. Kontext je tak nedílnou součástí práce a autorské dílo začíná „existovat“ teprve s příchodem prvního diváka.

The creation of various conditions in everyday environments is reminiscent of the theories of French situationists from the 1950s, whose central idea was to “construct situations” – the specific building of momentary life circumstances, with the goal of expanding extraordinary parts of life, improving the quality of the moment. At first glance, many passers-by will not even notice the cluster of bulges on the pavement. Matěj Liška’s inconspicuous intervention, almost merging with the road surface, is virtually indistinguishable from the usual bumps on urban roads. However, its goal is to pull the viewer out of the automatism of walking, reminding them of their existence at a given moment. Here and now.

Matěj Liška is a student of the Sculpture 2 Studio at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, led by Jimena Mendoza and Tomáš Hlavina. In 2020, he completed a placement at the Painting 1 Studio and a placement at the Studio of the Visiting Artist, led by Pavel Büchler. The starting point of the artist’s work is extended sculpture, but he also pursues drawing, installation and performance. He draws inspiration from the environment and specific situations, which he enters and gently changes. Therefore, the context is an integral part of his work – the authorial work begins to “exist” only with the arrival of the first viewer.
