Vladimír Turner

Zakázané ovoce
(dlažební kostky, strom)

Tak jako strom života, stojící uprostřed ráje, znamená regeneraci a návrat k původnímu stavu dokonalosti, představuje i Turnerův strom, na kterém namísto ovoce raší dlažební kostky, symbol obnovy a touhy po nastolení nových spravedlivějších poměrů. Je výrazem odporu vůči stávajícím mocenským strukturám a jejich represivnímu aparátu a současně i vyslovením nesouhlasu s jakoukoli formou podvolení a konformismu.
Ačkoli se strom nachází na téměř opuštěném místě prakticky skryt před zraky lidí, zosobňuje paradoxně především hlas ulice, jako prvotního iniciátora a hybatele společenských změn. Je-li tedy strom poznání v mnoha tradicích spojován s prvním člověkem a jeho pádem, může být Turnerův strom pojímán jako symbol začátku nové tradice a opětovného vzestupu člověka.

Vladimír Turner
* 1986 v Praze, žije a pracuje v Praze
Vladimír Turner je absolvent Audiovizuálních studií na Filmové a televizní fakultě Akademie múzických umění v Praze (2005-2009) a Vysoké školy uměleckoprůmyslové v Praze, ateliéru Intermediální konfrontace Jiřího Davida (2010-2013). Absolvoval stáže a residenční pobyty v Buenos Aires, Valencii, Nijmegenu, Toulouse, Rotterdamu či třeba Brisbane. Ve své tvorbě osciluje mezi filmem, uměním ve veřejném prostoru a aktivismem. Tyto obory nevnímá odděleně, ale spojuje je v aktivní život. Jeho práce z celého světa jsou k vidění na ulicích, filmových plátnech i v galeriích. V roce 2017/2018 byl vedoucím pedagogem hostujícího ateliéru v Centru Audiovizuálních studií na Filmové a televizní fakultě Akademie múzických umění v Praze.
Forbidden Fruit
Just as the tree of life, standing in the midst of paradise, means regeneration and a return to the original state of perfection, Turner’s tree with sprouting cobblestones instead of fruit represents a symbol of renewal and the desire to establish new, fairer conditions. It is an expression of resistance to the existing power structures and their repressive apparatus, simultaneously expressing disapproval of any form of subordination and conformism. Although the tree is located in an almost deserted place, practically hidden from people’s eyes, it paradoxically personifies primarily the voice of the street, as the prime instigator and mover of social change. Thus, if the tree of knowledge is in many traditions associated with the first man and his fall, Turner’s tree can be conceived as a symbol of the beginning of a new tradition and new rise of human beings.
Vladimír Turner
* 1986 in Prague, lives and works in Prague
Vladimír Turner is an audiovisual artist and filmmaker. He graduated in Audiovisual Studies at the Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague and then studied at the Intermedia Confrontation Studio at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague. He has completed stays and residencies in Buenos Aires, Valencia, Nijmegen, Toulouse, Rotterdam and Brisbane. In his work, he oscillates among film, art in public space and activism. He does not perceive these fields as separate, but links them to form active life. His works from all over the world can be seen on streets, on film screens and in galleries. In 2017/2018, he was the head teacher of the visiting studio at the Centre for Audiovisual Studies at the Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague.
